Project

The HOPE Harmony Greenscape Project

Description

The primary objective of the program, as articulated by our Resident Council President, is to promote mutual assistance, thereby enabling Fifth Ward residents to strengthen their support networks. We were seeking start-up funds and assistance to develop a mutual benefit lawn and snow removal service staffed by community volunteers that would further strengthen a sense of community ownership, pride, and unity within the neighborhood. This initiative is a logical outgrowth of the precedent set by our HOPE Memorial and Community Garden, which stood as a testament to the power of community-driven projects that not only flourished but thrived, creating lasting positive impacts on the well-being and vibrancy of our community.

Outcome

Purchase of lawn mower, plow, and equipment for lawn care and snow removal; purchase/creation of yard signs for advertising/marketing; · Indicators of success; · Increased number of resident subscriptions; · Reduced number of city citations in Fifth Ward; · Develop relationships with Allegheny students/faculty to research more environmentally friendly ways of providing lawn care/snow removal
