Request for 2027 Project Requests Now Open
The Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Subgrant Projects and Community-Based Research (CBR) project request form is open now from November 2, 2026 and will close on December 2, 2026.
Allegheny College’s Community Impact Hub invites applications from local community partners (nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and schools) seeking project-based funding and support in 2027. Successful applications will be eligible for funding beginning in February, and all grant funds must be spent by the end of September. Please see each program specific FAQ link below for details.
New This Year
Based on feedback and experiences of previous proposal cycles, the 2027 single form request for proposals includes the opportunity for community partners to request ONE or BOTH of the following based on project details and need.
1) Community-engaged learning (CEL) subgrant applications ($500 to $10,000). These subgrants provide financial support for community-engaged projects that address identified community priorities and involve meaningful collaboration with Allegheny College.
2) Funded student intern(s) to support a community-identified project designed for the eight-week Summer 2027 Community-Based Research (CBR) program.

Community Impact Hub
“The Hub” at Allegheny College is our response to the question of how a college can support the efforts within a region to build a more just, resilient and flourishing place.
The Hub is a strategic and collaborative network of community partners, faculty, staff, and students held within five Impact Teams that use a Collective Impact model to determine shared goals and outcomes. Faculty and students work within the Impact Team framework to support capacity building and community improvement efforts by incorporating community projects into the curriculum and engagement efforts of the college.
Being immersed in the “messiness” of such efforts and being mentored by community practitioners allows for students to develop both personally and professionally. To learn more, please read the stories on this site and fill out the contact form.

Community Partners
Within the five Impact Teams, both faculty and students participate in various initiatives to support the region’s capacity-building and community improvement efforts.
This involvement includes integrating community projects into the college’s curriculum and engagement activities. By doing so, students are exposed to the real-world complexities and challenges faced by communities, and they receive mentorship from experienced community practitioners.
Students get to apply their knowledge in practical settings and learn how to navigate complex situations, they have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and explore potential career paths and develop a deeper commitment to engaged citizenship.
