The Arc Community Greenspace: Celebrating Mill Run

Description
Over the summer, Eleanor Rochford ’26 helped Professor Amara Geffen and The Arc of Crawford County, Inc. with the graphic representation of The Arc Community Greenspace. During the eight weeks, she was able to create a banner design and three separate color ways to be displayed at the front of the site, help gather table-top mural designs with the use of a handmade template (as well as making a few of her own), and create a rough draft for the educational signage that are featured on the site. She also helped Professor Jesse Swan-Quinn in preparation for his fall 2023 course, ENVSC 290 Counter-Ecologies: Storytelling, Power, and the Environment, using the project as a case study. She frequented the Crawford County Historical Society to go through and find old newspaper articles, photos, letters and documents that would serve as useful sources for his class; she then scanned and summarized the documents so the class would have easy access to everything they found.
Outcome
The Arts & Culture Impact Team created a banner design for the front of the building, tabletop mural design, educational signage and a historical archive for the new Arc Community Greenspace to bring attention to this inclusive community gathering space where all are welcome.Project Details
