Description
The student will write a continuation of the book, Meadville Ebony Genealogy of Sorts by Armendia P. Dixon and Dedra Prester, 1988. The authors worked on the question of why we don’t include African American people in the early history of Meadville. With just a year to do the research, they were able to show the existence of African American people in Meadville beginning in 1800. The listing of names in the 1850 Census prompted the interest of relatives to look into their family histories. Some organizations saw names that appeared in their histories. The fourth section of the book covers interviews with Just Ordinary People Making for an Extraordinary Future. The challenge is to continue with Just Ordinary People Making for an Extraordinary Future – to interview these people and tell their stories.
