Project

City of Meadville GIS Shade Tree Inventory Update

Description

Due to recent insect infestations, storms, and aging trees, the City of Meadville has removed more than 100 trees in the last five years. These trees were vital to the health of the Meadville Community. The Meadville Shade Tree Commission is committed to restoring this green infrastructure and increasing the number of trees in the central business district and areas identified by PA Department of Natural Resources and the PA Department of Environmental Protection as “Environmental Justice Areas.”

Outcome

Verify field conditions with respect to data found in the shade tree layer of the City’s GIS system, verify areas suitabile for planting new trees, and map shade trees in Diamond, Bicentennial and Huidekoper Parks.
