Project

Aquatic and Wetland Resource Monitoring & Management

Description

The refuge’s challenges include invasive plant issues and limited staff. The student would help improve the refuge’s inventory and monitoring programs, and work on ongoing projects for eDNA tracking of invasive round goby and for using goats to manage invasive plants. The student would produce data that will inform management decisions.

Outcome

Assist with 4-5 different biological projects, receiving hands-on experience in conservation, habitat restoration, and habitat management. Implement biological protocols including monitoring water quality, invasive plants, and wildlife in aquatic and wetland habitats on the refuge.
